Born in the Wild,
Built for It
WildRoots was founded in 2014 by Alejandro Vega after a decade photographing wilderness for National Geographic. He noticed that the adventure travel industry was extracting value from wild places without giving back — and that most operators hired outside guides with no connection to the land.
He started WildRoots with one conviction: the best guides are the people who grew up in these landscapes. Today, our 47 guides are all local specialists — Maasai trackers in Kenya, Patagonian mountaineers in Chile, Sherpa veterans in Nepal.
Over 4,820 adventurers have traveled with us. We've maintained a 94% summit success rate on Kilimanjaro, a 4.9/5 average review score, and donated over $127,000 to wildlife conservation in the last year alone.
